creative workshops

Do I need art experience?

No experience is needed. This is a beginner block print art class in Southwest Austin designed to accommodate adults (18+), regardless of previous experience or confidence in artistic abilities.

What should I bring to the workshop?

All materials are provided.

Just bring yourself and the name used to purchase your seats. You will need this full name to check in for you or your group.

What Should I wear?

Wear some clothes you don’t mind getting a stain on. Generally printmaking is not too messy, but ink can accidentally smudge or transfer to clothing while getting the hang of it.

How long is the workshop?

All workshops are 2 hours. The time includes a buffer at the beginning and the end of class for settling in & cleanup.

How do Tickets and Check-in work?

You will be able to check in under the name you purchased seats with. If you are a group, the reservation for everyone in the group will be under the name used to purchase the seats.

The confirmation email, “Troubling Visions order confirmed!” serves as your “ticket” or confirmation in the event there is some difficulty with checking in under the name used to purchase the seats.

Where is the workshop located?

All Creative Workshops take place at 12919 Nutty Brown Rd, Austin, TX 78737.

There are multiple buildings on the property. Workshops are located in “The House”. There will be a sign to lead you from the parking lot, past the safety rope.

The following map shows landmarks on the property to give you a better idea of where The House is located.

What Does the House look like?

An image of The House is shown here.

You may remember the space from visiting a past market!

How does parking work?

There is a parking lot on the property. It is marked on the above map. If the lot is full, it is also ok to park on Nutty Brown Rd.

Is it possible to refund workshop tickets?

Unfortunately due to the small scale of this business, refunds are not possible after you have purchased tickets. It may be possible to send someone to attend in your place, so long as they are 18+. To arrange someone to attend in your place, follow the instructions in the confirmation email you received, “Troubling Visions order confirmed!”

Can I bring guests to watch but not participate?

No. There is no “observer” type ticket/seat for creative workshops. Anyone attending must purchase a seat to participate. There will only be chairs organized for the number of seats for sale.

Can I bring Kids?

This workshop is not suitable for children due to the sharp carving tools used. This workshop is intended only for adults. All participants must be 18+. You will need to sign a waiver. We ask that kids sit this one out.

Can I bring Dogs?

This activity is not suitable to bring dogs, unless it is a service animal.

What is the waiver for?

Upon arrival, you will be required to sign a waiver to acknowledge you understand the risks of working with sharp carving tools. While it is not an overly dangerous activity, any time sharp tools are involved there is always some risk. This waiver is similar to what you would sign at a gym before taking a class.

What about other questions?

You will receive an email with full workshop details once you are signed up, “Troubling Visions order confirmed!“, follow the instructions provided in that email under “Additional Questions”.

Where can I buy @troublingvisions artwork?

I am a guest vendor in the Hand Made at Nutty Brown Shop. You can find a small selection of my work in the store for sale every Saturday 10a-5p.

Each issue will be evaluated on a case by case basis if anything can be done to improve the situation.

Prints are made in very small batches. The current series(s) will be printed for a short time then retired from print in that form. If you are interested in a piece from one of my current series, please reach out and I can restock Hand Made at Nutty Brown for local purchase.

I have a handful of larger works and paintings which may be possible to arrange for local purchase. Please contact me using the contact form regarding the piece and your interest and we can discuss if it may be possible to arrange a local pickup through Hand Made at Nutty Brown.
